2026 World Cup: Otto Addo Backs Ghana to Beat Any Team After Group L Draw

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has shared his reaction after Ghana were drawn into Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will face England, Croatia and Panama.

The draw, conducted in Washington D.C., produced one of the tournament’s most intriguing groups, as Ghana prepare for their fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage against a mix of European heavyweights and CONCACAF opposition.

Despite acknowledging the difficulty of the group, Addo expressed strong belief in his squad’s ability to compete with, and defeat, any of their opponents if they perform at their best.

“We want to win every match, that’s for sure. If we start well, anything is possible,” Addo told Sports Blitz 360.
“On a good day, I know we can beat anyone, but I also know we can lose to any of these teams, including Panama, if we underrate them.”

The Black Stars’ progression will depend heavily on focus and consistency, with Addo stressing the importance of respecting every opponent in the group.

Group L will open with England facing Croatia in a high-profile rematch of their 2018 World Cup semifinal on Wednesday, June 17, with the fixture set to take place in either Dallas or Toronto. The clash is expected to set the early tone for a tightly contested group.

With the expanded tournament format allowing multiple teams to advance, Ghana will head into the competition optimistic but realistic, knowing that discipline, preparation and a strong start will be key to securing a place in the knockout rounds.
