‘The Time Is Now’ – Kurt Okraku Rallies Ghana Ahead of World Cup Challenge

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has called on all Ghanaians to unite behind the Black Stars as the nation prepares for what he describes as a defining moment at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With the tournament set to be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico, Okraku believes Ghana has an opportunity to rekindle the spirit that has made the Black Stars one of Africa’s most respected football brands.

Speaking ahead of the global showpiece, the GFA President urged players, officials and supporters to embrace the challenge with confidence and determination.

“The time is now,” Okraku said. “This is the moment for Ghana football to rise, compete and show the world our true potential. We have a talented squad, a committed technical team and a nation that believes in the Black Stars.”

The Black Stars enter the tournament carrying the hopes of millions of supporters eager to see the team return to the heights that made Ghana a force on the world stage. Okraku noted that success would require sacrifice, discipline and togetherness both on and off the pitch.

He emphasized that while the players will be responsible for delivering results on the field, the support of the Ghanaian people could provide the extra motivation needed during difficult moments throughout the competition.

“The Black Stars belong to every Ghanaian. When we stand together, we become stronger. Our unity can inspire the team to achieve great things,” he stated.

Okraku also praised the commitment shown by the players during the qualification campaign and expressed confidence that the current generation possesses the quality needed to compete against the best teams in world football.

The GFA President believes the 2026 World Cup presents a unique chance for Ghana to create new memories and add another proud chapter to its football history. He pointed to the country’s previous World Cup achievements, including reaching the Round of 16 in 2006 and the historic quarter-final appearance in 2010, as proof that Ghana can compete at the highest level.

As excitement continues to build across the country, Okraku remains optimistic about the future. His message to the nation is simple but powerful: believe in the team, support the players and embrace the moment.

With the countdown to the World Cup well underway, Ghana’s football chief is convinced that the Black Stars have what it takes to make the nation proud.

For Okraku and millions of Ghanaians, the message could not be clearer: the time is now.
