Lyles & Tebogo face off in lanes 3 and 6 as the official startlists for today’s Golden Gala Pietro Mennea announced

The official startlists for the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea, scheduled for this evening at the Stadio Olimpico has been released.

The highlight of the evening will be the men’s 100 metres where world champion – Noah Lyles with lock horns with Motswana print prodigy – Letsile Tebogo, and home star – Marcell Jacobs. The lane assignments have been confirmed already.

Olympic champion Noah Lyles of the United States will compete in lane 6, while Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Marcell Jacobs will run in lane 5. Also in the field are Olympic 200-metre champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana in lane 3 while World Indoor 60-meter champion Jordan Anthony of the United States in lane 4.

Below is how the sprinters will line up in the lanes:

Lane 1 – Emmanuel Eseme [Cameroon]

Lane 2 – Ackeem Blake [Jamaica]

Lane 3 – Letsile Tebogo [Botswana]

Lane 4 – Jordan Anthony [USA]

Lane 5 – Marcell Lamont Jacobs [Italy]

Lane 6 – Noah Lyles [USA]

Lane 7 – Akani Simbine [South Africa]

Lane 8 – Ferdinand Omanyala [Kenya]

Lane 9 – Jeremiah Azu [Great Britain]

Nigerian sprint freak – Kayinsola Ajayi holds the world lead so far in the men’s 100 having ran 9.84 seconds in Lexington on May 29.

Another highly anticipated sprint showdown will take place in the women’s 200 meters, featuring world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in lane 7 and Olympic 100-meter champion Julien Alfred in lane 8.

The progression heights for the men’s high jump have also been set at 2.12 m, 2.16 m, 2.20 m, 2.23 m, 2.26 m, and 2.28 m, followed by 2-centimeter increments. The women’s pole vault progression will start at 4.30 m, followed by 4.45 m, 4.60 m, 4.70 m, and 4.80 m, with subsequent increases of 5 centimeters.
