Medeama Set to Take on Nigerian Side in CAF Champions League Opener

Ghanaian champions Medeama SC are set to make their CAF Champions League debut against Nigerian side Remo Stars, following the preliminary round draw held in Cairo, Egypt. The Tarkwa-based team is eager to make an impact in Africa’s premier club competition after clinching the Ghana Premier League title last season.
This marks Medeama’s first appearance in the CAF Champions League, having previously featured in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2014 and 2016. The club will host Remo Stars in the first leg at home before travelling to Nigeria for the return fixture. The first leg is scheduled between 18th and 20th August, while the second leg will take place from 25th to 27th August.
Medeama’s last participation in CAF inter-club competitions came in 2016, when they reached the group stage and made headlines by eliminating South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the playoff round.
The winner of the tie between Medeama and Remo Stars will advance to face Guinean powerhouse Horoya AC in the second round, with the ultimate aim of securing a spot in the coveted group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Medeama are determined to build on past experiences and make a historic mark in African football.
