Medeama SC captain targets win against Nigerian opponents in CAF Champions League.

Medeama SC captain Kwasi Donsu has expressed confidence ahead of the club’s CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Nigeria’s Remo Stars. The Ghanaian champions, drawn to face the Nigerian side in the first round of qualifiers for the group stage, are preparing to tackle the two-legged tie with determination.

Speaking to Kessben TV, Donsu emphasized that Medeama are unfazed by the opposition, stressing the importance of hard work and focus. “Finally, we have known the opponents we are going to face in the CAF Champions League. In football, if you want to be a champion you don’t have to fear your opponents. The most important thing is that we are going to work hard and sail through to the next stage,” he said.

Medeama, who clinched the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title, aim to build on their previous CAF experience. In 2016, the Tarkwa-based side reached the group stage after defeating South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns but were unable to advance further.

The first leg of the tie will be hosted at the Cape Coast Stadium between August 18–20, with the return leg scheduled in Nigeria the following week. The team is confident that careful preparation and a focused approach will help them progress to the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
