Ghana’s Next World Cup Qualifier Set for March 2025

Ghana’s Black Stars will return to action in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March 2025 as they continue their quest to secure a place at the global showpiece in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Coach Otto Addo’s side is scheduled to face Chad and Madagascar in crucial Group I fixtures that could significantly shape their qualification hopes. Ghana currently sits at the top of the group following two impressive victories in the latest round of matches.
The Black Stars endured a mixed start to their campaign, recording one win and one defeat in their opening two games. However, their fortunes were revived this month with a spirited comeback victory over Mali in Bamako, followed by a thrilling 4–3 win against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Kumasi.
Jordan Ayew was the standout performer in the victory over CAR, scoring a hat-trick to inspire the comeback and propel Ghana to the summit of Group I. Despite the dramatic win, head coach Otto Addo admitted that his side struggled in the first half of the match.
“We had problems in the first half controlling the ball and finding solutions upfront. I take the blame. Maybe I wanted us to do too much, especially given the few days of training we had. I adjusted in the second half, and we deserved to win,” Addo said.
The victory also extended Ghana’s remarkable unbeaten record at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, where the Black Stars have not lost a competitive match since 2000. The venue has since become a fortress for the national team and continues to offer a significant home advantage.
With World Cup qualifying fixtures now on hold, attention will shift to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which are expected to commence later this year as Ghana continues its preparations on multiple fronts.
