U20 AFCON: Black Satellites Take on Egypt in Semi-Finals With World Cup Qualification at Stake

Ghana’s Black Satellites topped Group C at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing with seven points from two wins and a draw. Across their three group-stage matches, the team scored three goals while conceding just one, demonstrating a solid defensive record.

Their next challenge comes against host nation Egypt, who finished third in Group A. The quarter-final clash carries high stakes, as a win for either side guarantees a place in the semi-finals of the U20 AFCON—and with it, automatic qualification for the FIFA U20 World Cup.

For Ghana, a return to the World Cup stage would mark their first appearance since 2015. The Black Satellites, who lifted the U20 World Cup trophy in 2009, will be aiming to reclaim their place among the world’s elite youth sides ahead of the tournament in Chile this September.
