Three Black Stars Set to Feature in 2023/24 Champions League

The UEFA Champions League returns tonight, bringing some thrilling fixtures as Europe’s elite clubs take to the field. Several notable teams are making a return to the competition after a long absence, promising exciting action for fans. On Tuesday, eight matches will be played across various stadiums, with Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund headlining some of the standout fixtures. The action continues on Wednesday with another eight games, including a highly anticipated clash between Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
The competition features 32 teams divided into eight groups, and three Ghanaian internationals are set to feature prominently, having played key roles in helping their clubs qualify for Europe’s premier club tournament.
Thomas Partey – Arsenal

Arsenal return to the Champions League after a six-year absence, following one of their best Premier League campaigns in recent years, where they finished second, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City. The North London club will compete in Group B alongside RC Lens, PSV Eindhoven, and Sevilla.

Salis Abdul Samed – RC Lens
The former Clermont Foot midfielder has been integral to RC Lens’ remarkable rise. Just three years ago, the club were competing in Ligue 2, but after a swift transformation, they are now competing among Europe’s elite. Since their return to Ligue 1, Lens have consistently finished in the top ten, including a remarkable second-place finish last season, challenging Paris Saint-Germain. Abdul Samed, who joined last season, has quickly established himself as a key player in midfield. Lens will face Arsenal, PSV, and Europa League champions Sevilla in Group B.

Osman Bukari – Red Star Belgrade (FK Crvena zvezda)
Bukari joined Red Star Belgrade from Belgian side Gent at the start of last season and made an immediate impact. Playing a pivotal role in the team’s domestic success, he helped Red Star secure a domestic double, scoring 15 goals in 38 appearances. He is expected to continue his impressive form in the Champions League as Red Star face a tough group including champions Manchester City, Young Boys, and RB Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Bukari’s compatriot Edmund Addo was not included in Red Star’s 27-man squad for the Champions League campaign.
With three Ghanaian internationals set to feature, fans can look forward to a thrilling start to the 2023/24 Champions League, with high-stakes clashes and remarkable storylines unfolding across Europe.
