“Heart of Lions Owner Randy Abbey Aims for League Glory and CAF Champions League Debut”

Heart of Lions owner Dr. Randy Abbey is beaming with pride as his team stands on the brink of a historic achievement this season. The Kpando-based club sits third on the Ghana Premier League table with 54 points, just three behind league leaders Nations FC, and has been one of the standout performers of the campaign.
Abbey’s ambition is clear: win the Ghana Premier League for the first time and secure a place in the prestigious CAF Champions League. “I would want to win the league for the first time and also play in Africa,” he told 3Sports in an exclusive interview.
Despite a challenging schedule, with three away games and only one home fixture in their last four matches, Abbey is proud of what his team has achieved so far. “For all the teams in the title race, we have the toughest games. In the last four matches, we have three away games and only one home game. I’m pushing the boys and proud of what they have done,” he said.
Heart of Lions’ strong performances this season are evident in the stats. They are joint-second in the league’s top scorers with 33 goals, trailing only former champions Medeama. Defensively, they are joint-fourth best, having conceded just 20 goals, only Nations FC (16), Hearts of Oak (17), and GoldStars (19) have been tighter at the back.
As the season approaches its climax, Abbey’s excitement is palpable. “Whichever way it ends, if we win the league, I will be the happiest man on earth. But I’m also impressed with what we have done so far and proud of the team. I believe we can do even better in future seasons,” he said.
With history within reach, Heart of Lions will need every ounce of determination to overcome the challenges ahead. They face Young Apostles away on Sunday, followed by a home clash against Bechem United, before closing the season with a potential title-deciding trip to Nations FC.
If they succeed, Heart of Lions will not only lift their first league title but also make their long-awaited debut in the CAF Champions League, a milestone Abbey has dreamed of since taking charge.
