Tina Clayton: To be second just behind my twin sister is a great feeling

Jamaican sprinter – Tina Clayton has expressed her delight to have finished close to her sister, Tia Clayton in the women’s 100m dash at the 2025 Diamond League in Doha last Friday.

Although not happy with her start, the 20-year-old star said finishing second behind her sister is a great feeling:

“To be second just to my sister Tia [Clayton] is a great feeling. We are twin sisters, we are training partners and we also compete together.

“When we line up for a race, we are no longer sister, we are rival competitors. But after the race is over, it feels really good to make the top two places.”

Tina went ahead to talk about her upcoming races and her expectations.

“My next meeting will be in Jamaica, so now I will be back there, to regroup and focus on my next steps.

“My big goal for 2025 will be to make the Jamaican team for the World Championships along with my sister.”

Tina Clayton won gold medals for both the 100 metres and 4×100m relay at both the 2021 and 2022 World Under-20 Championships. Clayton also set a championship record in her individual event in 2022.
