Government to Pay Salaries of Additional Black Stars Technical Team Members – Henry Asante Twum

The Government of Ghana will assume responsibility for the salaries of the newly added members of the Black Stars’ technical team, according to the Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum.

Speaking on the issue, Asante Twum clarified that the decision was taken to ease the financial burden on the GFA while ensuring the national team benefits from a strengthened technical setup ahead of crucial international competitions.

“The government has agreed to cover the pay of the additional technical team members,” Asante Twum stated. “This arrangement allows the team to have the needed technical support without placing extra strain on the Association’s finances.”

He explained that the expanded technical team is part of a broader strategy to improve preparation, performance analysis, player conditioning and overall team management as the Black Stars continue their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.

The announcement follows public debate over the cost implications of adding new technical staff, with critics questioning the timing and necessity of the appointments. However, Asante Twum maintained that the decision was based purely on technical needs and best practices in modern football.

He also stressed that collaboration between the GFA and government remains vital to the success of the national teams, particularly as Ghana targets qualification and a strong showing at the expanded 2026 World Cup.

The additional technical team members are expected to begin work immediately, contributing to preparations for upcoming qualifiers and friendly matches as the Black Stars seek to restore confidence and consistency.
