Medeama Play Out Draw with Young Africans in Kumasi CAF Champions League Clash

Ghanaian champions Medeama SC were held to a 1-1 draw by Tanzanian side Young Africans in a gripping CAF Champions League group stage clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday.
Medeama, looking to build on their earlier victory over CR Belouizdad, started the game strongly. They took the lead in the 27th minute when Jonathan Sowah calmly converted a penalty, giving the home side an early advantage.
The Tanzanian visitors responded quickly, with Ivorian midfielder Peodoh Pacome Zouzoua firing in the equaliser in the 36th minute, setting the tone for an evenly contested match. Despite several chances from both sides, neither team could break the deadlock in the second half.
With this result, Medeama now sit second in Group D with four points from three matches, following one win, one draw, and one loss. Record African champions Al Ahly lead the group with five points after their goalless draw with CR Belouizdad, while the Algerians also have four points. Young Africans remain at the bottom with two points, still in search of their first win in the competition.
Medeama will look to regain momentum in their next group stage fixture against Young Africans in Tanzania on December 20, 2023. With the group tightly packed, the remaining matches promise an exciting race to the knockout stages.
