Sha’Carri Richardson: My performance reflects my training as well as my mindset

World women’s 100m champion – Sha’Carri Richardson has disclosed what has been keeping her afloat.
The American sprinter [Sha’Carri Richardson] dominated and won the women’s 100m at the Prefontaine Classics [Diamond League] in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
The quality nature of the field going into the starting blocks brought much expectation with the likes of Josee Marie Ta-Lou, Daryll Neita, Julien Alfred, Twanisa Terry, Elaine Thompson-Herah, and Dina Asher-Smith, all lined up against the American sprint goddest – Richardson.
But in the final analysis, the reigning World champion, blew up the tracks with ease having crossed the line in 10.83 seconds to take up the win.
Julien Alfred, the World Indoor 60m champion, placed second in 10.93s as she utilised her quick start to good effect and led for most of the way, while Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith [10.98s] placed third.
Speaking in a post race interview, Richardson revealed the power behind her sterling performance:

“I feel like my performance reflects my training as well as my mindset and as well as my faith, continuing to understand who I am and develop me as a person, as well as an athlete and a woman.”
She went on the add the feeling of running at the Hayward field in Eugene which is more or less like her home.
“It’s always magical running here and of course, I don’t have to travel too far, so I enjoy definitely coming to Hayward Stadium and running.”
With the US Olympic Trials around the corner, Richardson said she’s preparing towards it while promising something new on the day:
“Just continue to prepare in the way I’ve been preparing like another race. We’ve been preparing since the fall, so in a couple of weeks, there’s nothing new.”
