Serge Gnabry Labels Bayern vs Arsenal Champions League Quarter-Final a “Do-or-Die” Tie

Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry has described the upcoming Champions League quarter-final against his former club Arsenal as a “do-or-die” encounter, emphasizing its importance for Bayern’s season. Speaking in an interview published on Bayern’s official website, Gnabry said a win would provide the team with a huge morale boost and move them closer to their target of reaching the semi-finals.

“It’s a do-or-die game – that’s where we’re usually particularly strong. Reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League would give us a huge boost. It’s our big goal,” Gnabry explained.

The clash holds special significance for Gnabry personally, as he spent several formative years at Arsenal before returning to Germany in 2016. However, he stressed that both sides have an equal chance of progressing.

“Arsenal have had what it takes to play at the top for a long time. The team has a certain flair and exudes strength. The odds are probably 50-50,” he said.

Reflecting on the history between the two clubs, Gnabry acknowledged Bayern’s previous aggregate triumph over Arsenal but insisted past results would not dictate Tuesday’s game. “Arsenal have been on a very good run since Christmas. In any case, you can’t really say anything bad about a team that’s competing for the Premier League title. They’re strong, good finishers, and are keen on having possession. They’re formidable in their own stadium with their fans behind them. It will be a difficult task, with two strong teams coming up against each other,” he added.

With Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel having already conceded the Bundesliga title race, the Champions League now represents a key opportunity for the Bavarian side to secure silverware this season.
