Medeama close 2025 as GPL leaders after goalless stalemate with Bibiani Gold Stars

Medeama SC were held to a goalless draw by Bibiani Gold Stars at the Dun’s Park in the final Ghana Premier League fixture for 2025.
The nail-biting clash saw both sides attempt to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes, but failed to convert any of the 11 total shots between them. Gold Stars had the only shot on target from their six attempts, but that wasn’t enough to give them a lead into recess.
Ibrahim Tanko’s men found their rhythm after the break and dominated possession, but remained blunt in the final third. They managed to play two more shots, with none posing a real threat to goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi.
The hosts, on the other hand, attempted the same number of shots as in the first half and still managed to have only one on target.
Ultimately, no team was able to break the deadlock. This draw marks the first time this campaign Gold Stars have dropped points on home turf after winning their previous seven.
Flitz Markus Schmid’s now sit fourth on the league log with 29 points, level on points with Aduana FC.
For Medeama, the point earned today shoots them to the league’s summit with 31 points – just one more than second-placed Asante Kotoko.
They end 2025 as league leaders and the second-best attacking side in 16 games.
Tanko’s side also closed the year as joint-best away side, tied with Hearts of Oak on 13 points from eight games on the road.
