Julien Alfred: I’m satisfied with where I’m at now and just looking forward to getting better
2024 Summer Olympics 100m gold medalist – Julien ‘Juju’ Alfred has said that even though she couldn’t open the season as early as she wanted she’s satisfied with her current form nonetheless.
Speaking to the press today at the Stadio Olimpico ahead of the 2026 Golden Gala Pietro Mennea tomorrow, the Ciceron born sprinter who brought home the first-ever Olympic medal, and gold for that matter to Saint Lucia compared how things panned out for her last season as compared to this very season.
“If one year doesn’t go well, especially like last year didn’t go how I wanted to at the World Championships, you work on something different but I just keep everything the same and I’m always going to work hard, no matter what.”
She further reiterated that she’s satisfied with the progress of her work at training so far:
“This season I wanted to open up very early, one month ago, to see what I had to work on before to start the Diamond League but I’m satisfied with where I’m at now and just looking forward to getting better each race.”
She added that the gold medal she won at the last Olympics in Paris has brought a lot of changes in the Eastern Caribbean island nation [Saint Lucia].
“There have been a lot of changes in Saint Lucia, I try to go back at least once a month, being with my family as much as possible because I left since I was 14 to be on my own and chasing my dreams.”
