Inter Milan snatch draw at Etihad as Manchester City held in Champions League clash.

Manchester City were held to a goalless draw by Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium in their opening match of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League campaign, repeating the tension of last season’s final showdown. City struggled to break down a disciplined Inter side, who combined resolute defending with sporadic attacking threats, frustrating Pep Guardiola’s men throughout the 90 minutes.
The Citizens were further hampered by the injury of playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who was forced off at halftime. Phil Foden replaced him but was unable to make a decisive impact, with Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer producing a series of fine saves. Erling Haaland, aiming for his 100th goal for City, was also kept quiet by a compact Inter defense, while Ilkay Gundogan and Foden came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half.
Inter Milan themselves had opportunities to snatch a late victory, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan firing over from close range and Matteo Darmian opting for an ambitious backheel rather than a straightforward chance. Despite their efforts, neither side could find the breakthrough, leaving the match at 0-0.
City will now look to bounce back in their next Champions League outing against Slovan Bratislava, aiming for a first win in the revamped league format after a frustrating start.
