Ghana to Face Mexico in Friendly Ahead of U-20 Women’s World Cup

Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, will face Mexico in an international friendly in Bogotá as part of their final preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The Black Princesses arrived in South America last week after completing over two months of intensive training in Cape Coast, aimed at sharpening their tactical and physical readiness ahead of the tournament.
The friendly encounter is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, 2024, and will be played at the Centro Deportivo Choquenza. Both Ghana and Mexico are expected to use the match as a key test to evaluate squad depth, match fitness, and tactical cohesion before the World Cup kicks off on August 31, 2024.
Ghana’s qualification for the tournament marks the team’s seventh consecutive appearance at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, underlining their consistency on the global stage. The Black Princesses will be targeting a historic breakthrough, with the objective of progressing beyond the group stage for the first time.
Drawn in Group E, Ghana will compete against former champions Japan, Austria, and New Zealand. The Black Princesses will open their campaign against Austria on September 2, as they look to make a strong start to their World Cup journey.
