Black Stars finish 2025 as 14th best in Africa, 72nd in the world

Released on Monday, December 22, the latest rankings see Ghana remain unchanged at 72nd.
The points tally of the four-time African champions also remain the same at 1,351.
The Black Stars also keep their 14th position on the African continent with all the teams in the Top 20, except with Guinea, not making the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite their static position in the global rankings, the Black Stars’ 2025 calendar year record paints a more encouraging picture. Ghana played a total of 10 matches, recording six wins, one draw, and three losses.
The team showed impressive attacking output, scoring 21 goals, while displaying defensive solidity by conceding just six goals. These figures highlight periods of strong form and suggest progress that is not fully reflected in the rankings.
Leading in Asia is Japan, in Europe Spain and in South America Argentina.
In North and Central America it is USA while New Zealand lead the pack in Oceania.
Spain end the year at No. 1 followed by Argentina, France, England and Brazil to make up the Top 5 in the world.
