U17 World Cup: Four African sides reach last 16

The curtain has fallen on the round of 32 matches at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar. Sixteen teams have secured their place in the round of 16, which kicks off on Tuesday, November 18.

The African teams continue to impress: Morocco, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Uganda all advanced successfully and will compete in the last 16. Uganda’s participation is historic, marking their very first appearance at the U17 World Cup.

The team clinched qualification after a 1-0 victory over Senegal, courtesy of a sensational goal from Abubakali Walusimbi, struck from outside the box.

Uganda will go head-to-head with Burkina Faso, who progressed after knocking out the defending champions, Germany U17.

All round of 16 fixtures will take place next Tuesday at the stadiums within the Aspire Zone sports complex in Doha, Qatar’s capital.
