Jonathan Tetteh Outclasses Freezy Macbones to Claim WBA Africa Light Heavyweight Title

Jonathan Tetteh delivered a composed and disciplined performance to defeat Seth Gyimah, popularly known as Freezy Macbones, by unanimous decision on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, securing the WBA Africa light heavyweight title.
The bout, which headlined the Legacy Bout Showdown, carried added tension due to the fighters’ history. Freezy Macbones entered the ring as the pre-fight favourite, with the contest widely regarded as a grudge match following their previous encounter during the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers, where both had battled for a single national slot.
Both boxers came in with identical knockout-heavy records, promising an explosive contest. However, over eight rounds, it was Tetteh (11–0, 10 KOs) who imposed his authority, combining sharp ring intelligence with precise shot selection to control the fight.
The judges’ scorecards — 80–73, 78–74, and 77–75 — reflected Tetteh’s consistency and command throughout the bout. While Freezy Macbones (11–1, 10 KOs) brought his trademark aggression, he struggled to translate pressure into effective offense, with many of his punches failing to land cleanly.
Tetteh’s superior footwork, defensive awareness, and timing repeatedly neutralized the challenger, allowing him to dictate the pace and land the cleaner combinations across the rounds. A pivotal moment came when Freezy was deducted a point for biting Tetteh, an incident that highlighted his growing frustration and further swung momentum in the champion’s favour.
The point deduction proved costly in an already competitive fight and underlined the control Tetteh maintained under pressure.
With the victory, Jonathan Tetteh preserved his unbeaten record and announced himself as a rising force in the African light heavyweight division. Capturing the WBA Africa title represents a major milestone in his career and positions him for bigger opportunities on the continental and international stage.
For Freezy Macbones, the defeat marks the first of his professional career, and he will now look to regroup and return stronger in pursuit of future honours.
