England completes Glasgow 2026 3×3 Basketball line-ups

Reigning Men’s 3×3 Basketball Commonwealth Games gold medallists England will have the chance to defend their crown at Glasgow 2026 after winning the Home Nations Qualification Event in Manchester.

The team, which featured Birmingham 2022 champion Jamal Anderson, beat a spirited Northern Ireland side 21-9 in the final.

They will be joined by their countrywomen at the multi-sport Games this summer after England beat Wales 21-11 in the women’s final.

Qualification event hosts England entered the competition as the overwhelming favourites to secure the final remaining qualification spots and join Commonwealth host Scotland at Glasgow 2026.

As expected, both the women’s and men’s line-ups completed a clean sweep of victories, against Northern Ireland, Wales and Isle of Man, during the pool phase.

England’s men began with a 21-6 win over Isle of Man on Friday, before defeating Wales 21-8 on Saturday morning. They then beat Northern Ireland 21-16 in their last fixture before facing them again in the final.

“I’m so thankful that we’ve got the job done and we’re going back,” Commonwealth champion Anderson told Glasgow 2026.

“Any time you get the opportunity to represent your country is a beautiful honour and to win the gold (at Birmingham 2022) was an incredible moment. I’m so proud of what we as a team did today in terms of completing our goal and now we have a journey ahead of us.”

Anderson was joined in the four-strong line-up by Ashley HamiltonDwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and Kavell Bigby-Williams, the latter of whom secured victory with the game-winning points in the final.

“This is a big achievement because everyone coming here to the tournament wanted to qualify for the Commonwealth Games and on paper we might have been the favourites but we had to compete and Northern Ireland put up a strong fight,” said Bigby-Williams.

“I watched Birmingham (2022) which was a great atmosphere and I’m looking forward to it in Glasgow and hopefully we can go on and win another gold medal.”

England’s women began with a dominant 21-3 win over Isle of Man on Friday, before following up that success with strong victories against Wales (21-7) and Northern Ireland (21-12) on Saturday.

“It’s a mixture of excitement and relief,” said Commonwealth silver medallist Cheridene Green. “We worked really hard over the last couple of days and I really enjoyed Birmingham 2022, so hopefully we can go back and support Team England all around.”

Green was joined in the line-up by Georgia Gayle and Cavina Richards, as well as Birmingham 2022 team-mate Shanine Norton.

“Some of us have played 5v5 before and obviously Cheridene and I were together in Birmingham, but we worked really hard to make this possible and I’m super proud of what we’ve achieved today,” Norton told Glasgow 2026.

“Before competing in the Games I didn’t know too much about it, but when I got there (Birmingham 2022) I realised how incredible it was. Being around other elite athletes, Olympians as well as Paralympians on that world stage was amazing and to do it again in the UK is another opportunity to potentially do something that could be historical.”
