“Antoine Semenyo: ‘My Best Is Yet to Come’ After Joining Manchester City”

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo believes the finest years of his career are still ahead of him after sealing a blockbuster move to Manchester City. The Black Stars attacker joined the Premier League champions following an impressive spell at AFC Bournemouth, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.

Semenyo’s explosive rise in English football has established him as one of the league’s most dangerous attacking players, prompting City to invest heavily in his signature. Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly paid £65 million to secure the versatile forward, who is expected to add pace, power, and tactical flexibility across the front line.

Despite attracting interest from several top European clubs, Semenyo opted for Manchester City, inspired by the opportunity to compete for major trophies under one of world football’s most respected managers.

“My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that,” Semenyo said after completing the move. “City are still involved in four competitions, and I really feel I can help the team have a strong second half of the season.

“The Etihad is my new home now. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans here, and I hope to show everyone what I can do.”

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo began his professional journey at Bristol City, where he gained valuable experience through loan spells with Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland. Those periods proved crucial in shaping the physicality, sharpness, and resilience that now define his game.

His performances at Ashton Gate soon attracted the attention of Bournemouth, who signed him midway through the 2022/23 season. Since arriving on the south coast, Semenyo’s career has accelerated rapidly, with each campaign marked by increased influence and consistency.

In the current Premier League season, the 25-year-old has emerged as one of Bournemouth’s standout performers, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists, underlining his growing status among England’s elite forwards.

Across all competitions, Semenyo made 110 appearances for the Cherries, scoring 32 goals and registering 13 assists — a return that ultimately earned him his dream move to Manchester City and the chance to showcase his talent on one of football’s biggest stages.
