Atletico Madrid eliminate Manchester United from Champions League.

Manchester United’s hopes of Champions League glory this season ended in disappointment as they were knocked out by Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford. The Premier League side, under Ralf Rangnick, struggled to break down Atletico’s trademark defensive resilience, with Renan Lodi’s far-post header four minutes before half-time sealing the Spanish club’s passage to the quarter-finals.

United dominated possession in the second half but were repeatedly thwarted by Atletico’s solid defensive setup, with goalkeeper Jan Oblak making key saves, including a brilliant stop from Raphael Varane’s header. Despite their efforts, Rangnick’s side must now focus on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Elsewhere on the night, Ajax suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to Benfica, resulting in their unexpected elimination from the tournament.
