Liverpool keep Champions League hopes alive, end Spurs’ bid.

Tottenham Hotspur’s aspirations of a top-four Premier League finish took a major hit as Liverpool delivered a commanding performance at Anfield, winning 4-2 and effectively denting Spurs’ Champions League hopes.
The Reds, bouncing back from a recent slump, asserted their dominance early. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a precise header from Cody Gakpo’s cross. Just before half-time, Andy Robertson doubled Liverpool’s lead by capitalizing on a rebound from Salah’s effort, putting Spurs on the back foot.
Frustrations boiled over for Tottenham, with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario having to intervene to separate teammates Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal during a heated half-time exchange.
Spurs mounted a late fightback through goals from Richarlison and Heung-Min Son, but it proved insufficient as Liverpool held on for a vital win. The 4-2 defeat marked Tottenham’s fourth consecutive league loss, leaving them seven points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.
The result highlighted Tottenham’s dramatic loss of form, complicating their race for European football next season. Meanwhile, Liverpool gained a morale boost after failing to win in their previous two outings, keeping faint hopes of a late-season surge alive.
Tottenham now face a challenging end to the campaign, with home fixtures against Burnley and title-chasing Manchester City, followed by a season-closer at already-relegated Sheffield United.
The defeat underscores the uphill battle Spurs face to secure a Champions League spot, while Liverpool’s win restores some confidence heading into their remaining fixtures.
