Mourinho Leaves Fenerbahce Following Champions League Exit

Jose Mourinho has stepped down as head coach of Fenerbahce, just over a year after taking charge of the Turkish giants. The Portuguese tactician’s departure comes only two days after Fenerbahce were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League play-offs by Benfica.
In an official statement, the club confirmed that Mourinho and Fenerbahce had “parted ways” by mutual consent.
“Our professional football first team’s technical director, Jose Mourinho, who has been carrying out his duties since the 2024/25 season, has parted ways with us. We thank him for his efforts for our team until today and wish him success in his future career,” the statement read.
Mourinho’s exit brings an abrupt end to his stint in Istanbul, which began with high expectations when he was appointed in 2024. His tenure, though brief, was closely watched, with fans and pundits hoping the seasoned manager could guide Fenerbahce to European success. However, the early Champions League exit marked a disappointing conclusion to his time at the Turkish club.
