UEFA relocates Champions League final from Russia to Paris.

The 2022 UEFA Champions League final will now be held in Paris after Russia lost hosting rights due to its invasion of Ukraine. The showpiece match, originally scheduled for 28 May at St Petersburg’s Gazprom Arena, has been relocated to the Stade de France.

UEFA announced the change following a Friday meeting, expressing gratitude to French President Emmanuel Macron for his “personal support and commitment” in facilitating the move amid an unprecedented crisis. The governing body emphasized that, together with the French government, it will support initiatives to provide aid to Ukrainian footballers and their families affected by the conflict.

In addition, UEFA has mandated that Russian and Ukrainian clubs and national teams play their home matches outside the region, reflecting the broader impact of the geopolitical situation on European football.
