Amoah’s Return Was a Strategic Call by Al Ahly Benghazi – Sarfo Duku

Sarfo Duku, Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, has played down suggestions that Albert Amoah’s return to the club came as a surprise, insisting the move was a calculated and strategic decision taken by Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.

Speaking in an interview on Akoma 87.9 FM, Duku expressed surprise at the public reaction surrounding the player’s return, describing such moves as a normal part of modern football.

“I am surprised that many people are describing Albert Amoah’s return as shocking news. Situations like this are not unusual in football, where a club signs a player and later decides to release him on loan,” Duku explained.

He revealed that Asante Kotoko had maintained constant communication with both the player and Al Ahly Benghazi throughout the period following Amoah’s move to Libya.

“When they decided to release him on loan, Kotoko was the first option they considered, and we gladly accepted, taking into account Albert’s legacy at the club,” he added.

Duku is confident that Amoah’s return will have a positive impact on the Porcupine Warriors, particularly by bolstering their attacking department as the team continues its domestic campaign.

Albert Amoah had joined Al Ahly Benghazi shortly after Asante Kotoko’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup. His return now sees him rejoin the Kumasi-based side as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
