Ghana Para Athletics Team Leaves for 2026 Commonwealth GAP Training Camp and Competition

The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC Ghana) has announced that the Ghana Para Athletics team departed from Accra International Airport on 22nd March 2026 to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Games GAP Training Camp and Competition.
The team comprises two Paralympians, Zinabu Issah and Botsyo Nkegbe, who are accompanied by their coaches, Emmanuel Anum Sowah and Patrick Yaw Obeng. During their time abroad, they will engage in a high-performance training camp as well as an international competition, both forming key parts of their preparation programme.
The training camp is part of the Commonwealth GAPS Training Programme, an initiative aimed at supporting elite athletes from Commonwealth nations as they prepare for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. NPC Ghana highlighted that the team’s participation has been made possible through strong collaboration with the Ghana Olympic Committee, a partnership that continues to open doors for Ghanaian para athletes to gain international training and competition exposure.
Through this programme, the athletes are expected to benefit from advanced training, technical development, and valuable competitive experience as they build towards the upcoming Games.
The team is scheduled to return to Ghana on 1st April 2026 after completing the training and competition programme. NPC Ghana has expressed confidence in the team, wishing both athletes and coaches a successful tour and continued progress in para athletics.
