Medeama teeter on Champions League elimination following Al Ahly loss

Medeama SC’s hopes of advancing in the CAF Champions League have taken a major hit following a narrow defeat to African powerhouse Al Ahly in their fifth group-stage meeting. The Ghanaian champions fought valiantly but were unable to convert key chances and were undone by a crucial second-half strike from Hussein El Shahat three minutes after the restart.
The first half ended goalless, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to break the deadlock. Medeama made tactical adjustments, bringing on Diawisie Taylor and Fordjour Azaria in an attempt to spark a comeback, yet they couldn’t find the equalizer.
The loss leaves Medeama at the bottom of Group D, teetering on the edge of elimination. Their fate now depends on the result of the Young Africans vs. CR Belouizdad clash. A draw in that game would still give Medeama a slim chance of progressing, provided they win their final group match against CR Belouizdad in Algeria.
The Tarkwa-based side faces a tough path forward, and fans must wait anxiously to see if Medeama can recover from this setback and secure a spot in the knockout stages of Africa’s premier club competition.
