Dortmund coach admits PSG are targeting Champions League glory

Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić has described Paris Saint-Germain as a club “built to win the Champions League” ahead of their highly anticipated semi-final clash, while insisting his side possess the hunger to challenge the French giants.

Speaking before Wednesday’s first-leg encounter, Terzić highlighted PSG’s long-term ambition of conquering Europe, noting that the Parisian project has been centred on Champions League success for over a decade.

“The project in Paris began with the goal of winning the Champions League. That has been their main objective for a decade,” Terzić said. “Maybe we’re the team with less experience, but we may have the greatest hunger.”

Despite Dortmund being viewed as underdogs, Terzić stressed the importance of unity and belief within his squad, calling on players, staff, and supporters to fully embrace the occasion and seize the opportunity to reach the final.

On the opposing bench, PSG manager Luis Enrique echoed the excitement surrounding the tie, describing the semi-final as a special moment for his team. The Spaniard praised the unique atmosphere of Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park and said his players are eager to rise to the occasion.

“What’s great about being here is that we can enjoy a really special game at a unique stadium in Europe,” Luis Enrique said. “We have a chance to make our fans really happy by reaching the final. That’s what we’ve earned the right to do, and we’ll try to enjoy that.”

PSG arrive in Germany having already secured the Ligue 1 title for a third consecutive season, while Dortmund’s domestic campaign has been less convincing. The German side currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga with 57 points from 31 matches, five points adrift of fourth-placed RB Leipzig.

With only three league games remaining, Dortmund are under pressure to secure Champions League qualification for next season. Winning the Champions League itself remains an alternative route to automatic qualification, adding further significance to their showdown with PSG.

As both sides prepare for a defining night in Europe, Dortmund’s hunger will be tested against a PSG team designed with one ultimate goal in mind, lifting the Champions League trophy for the first time.
