Ablakwa Pledges Diplomatic Support to Help Fans Back Black Stars at 2026 World Cup

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to leveraging Ghana’s diplomatic relationships to ensure that Ghanaian supporters are able to rally behind the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His assurance comes in the wake of Ghana’s placement in Group L alongside England, Panama and Croatia, a group widely regarded as competitive but one in which many analysts believe the Black Stars have a strong chance of progressing.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Ablakwa said his ministry will work closely with Ghana’s diplomatic missions in the United States and Canada to facilitate opportunities for as many Ghanaian fans as possible to support the national team during the tournament.
“We have unflinching confidence in our heroic Black Stars to make us proud despite having been drawn in a competitive group,” Ablakwa wrote.
“Now, it’s our duty to leverage cordial diplomatic alliances to ensure a good number of Ghanaian soccer fans get the opportunity to zestfully support the team in the US and Canada, as our supporters are globally renowned for.”
The Foreign Affairs Minister concluded his message with a patriotic rallying call, adding: “Ghana shall be unstoppable! We shall succeed, for God and Country.”
Ghana’s group-stage matches at the 2026 World Cup will be played across Canada and the United States, making diplomatic coordination crucial in easing travel and participation for supporters.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19, jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, and will be the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 teams.
