Morocco set to host 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League with $650,000 prize pool

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Morocco as the host nation for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League Finals, with the continent’s premier women’s club competition scheduled to run from 9 to 23 November 2024.
This marks the second time Morocco will stage the tournament, having previously hosted the 2022 edition, which was widely praised for its organisation and atmosphere.
A total of eight clubs will compete for the coveted title. The champions will receive USD 400,000 in prize money, while the runners-up will take home USD 250,000, underlining CAF’s continued commitment to growing women’s football across Africa.
Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa enter the tournament as defending champions and the most successful side in the competition’s short history, having lifted the trophy twice in the last three editions. Morocco’s ASFAR remain the only other club to have won the title, defeating Sundowns in the 2022 final on home soil.
Since its inception, the CAF Women’s Champions League has played a pivotal role in elevating the standard and visibility of women’s club football on the continent, providing a platform for elite talent and professional development.
Morocco’s selection as host follows the country’s successful staging of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2022, an event that received widespread acclaim and set new benchmarks for women’s football tournaments in Africa.
Qualification for the 2024 finals was determined through six zonal tournaments, with six teams earning their spots alongside the host nation and the holders of the 2023 title.
