Black Princesses Get Warm Welcome in Colombia Ahead of World Cup

Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome upon their arrival in Bogotá, Colombia, ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Ghanaian delegation was greeted at the airport by Colombian police officers who created a festive atmosphere with cheers, music, and a brief welcoming ceremony. The lively reception saw players and team officials dancing alongside the Colombians and some members of the local police force, turning the arrival into a joyful and memorable moment.
The team touched down in Colombia at approximately 5:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday, and the unexpected show of hospitality clearly lifted the spirits of the Black Princesses as they settled into the host nation. The heartwarming welcome set a positive tone for Ghana’s World Cup campaign and reflected the friendly reception awaiting the team in Colombia.
As part of their final preparations, the Black Princesses are scheduled to play several international friendly matches before the tournament officially kicks off on August 31, 2024.
Ghana has been drawn into Group E, where they will open their campaign against Austria on September 2, before taking on former champions Japan and New Zealand in subsequent group fixtures.
The Black Princesses will be aiming to make history by progressing beyond the group stage for the first time, having fallen short in five previous attempts.
