Ampem Darkoa Ladies suffer setback in CAF Women’s Champions League

Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to AS Mande in their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign, as Malian forward Oumou Kone starred at Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro. The victory propelled AS Mande to the top of Group B.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies had entered the clash buoyed by a win over defending champions AS FAR earlier in the week and were aiming for back-to-back victories to secure a semi-final berth. However, Kone’s clinical performance proved decisive, as she opened the scoring in the 40th minute before adding two more goals in quick succession in the 71st and 72nd minutes, sealing a dominant win for AS Mande.
The loss puts Ampem Darkoa in a challenging position, as they now must secure a positive result against Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes in their final group game to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
With AS Mande leading Group B on 4 points, Ampem Darkoa and AS FAR are level on 3 points each, while Huracanes sit at the bottom with 1 point, setting up a dramatic final round of group fixtures on Sunday.
