Akani Simbine hoping to clinch Olympic medal in Paris

Akani Simbine is feeling buoyant heading to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

The South African sprinter exhibited his sprint prowess on Saturday at the London stadium where he finished second in the men’s 100m in 9.86 seconds [Season Best], behind world champion – Noah Lyles who won in 9.81 seconds.

The South African noted how ready he is for the upcoming Olympic Games in his post race interview:

“I always run fast in London and it’s just an awesome place. It feels good and I’m happy with my race.

“This is a huge confidence ahead of the Games, knowing the shape I’m in right now and knowing what we need to work on just in the last week.

“I’m feeling good going into the Games and I’m really excited for it.”

He later took to twitter to share his expectation heading to Paris:

“It’s a super open Olympics,” Simbine said.

“It’s very open — like super, super, super open — anybody can take, whoever’s better on the day.”
