Police Ladies miss out on CAF Women’s CL spot after defeat to ASEC Mimosas

Police Ladies have been eliminated from the race to qualify for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League following a heavy 4-1 loss to ASEC Mimosas on Tuesday, September 2.

The Ghanaian champions were outclassed at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium by the Ivorian hosts in the ongoing WAFU B Qualifiers.

ASEC broke the deadlock just two minutes before halftime, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from the Police Ladies.

Yussif Basigi’s team returned from the break with hopes of a comeback, but those aspirations were dashed almost immediately as ASEC doubled their lead early in the second half.

Habibou Ouedraogo further extended the lead with a stunning strike, making it 3-0 and placing the game firmly in ASEC’s control.

Sarah Nyarko pulled one back for Police Ladies — her second goal of the tournament — to offer a glimmer of hope, but ASEC quickly responded with a fourth goal to restore their three-goal cushion and confirm their place in the tournament final.

The loss ends Police Ladies’ hopes of reaching the main CAF Women’s Champions League on their debut attempt.

They will now compete for third place on Friday, September 5.
