Hearts of Lions return to winning ways with emphatic victory over Samartex

Hearts of Lions bounced back strongly from a three-game winless run after recording a convincing 3-0 victory over FC Samartex in their Ghana Premier League clash at home.
The Kpando based side produced a dominant first half display to hand the Timber Giants back-to-back defeats for the first time in recent weeks following their previous 2-0 loss to regional rivals Bibiani Gold Stars.
Defender Ebenezer Abban, who recently received his maiden call-up to the Black Stars for the international friendly against Mexico, opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a composed finish to give Hearts of Lions the perfect start.
The hosts continued to pile pressure on Samartex and doubled their advantage in the 38th minute through Asante Seedorf Afful, whose strike left the visitors struggling to recover.
Just five minutes later, Ishmael Addo added the third goal in the 43rd minute to effectively put the game beyond the reach of the Timber Giants before halftime.
The important victory lifts Hearts of Lions to 13th position on the Ghana Premier League table with 42 points after 32 matches. FC Samartex, meanwhile, remain 6th with 47 points following another disappointing away performance.
