AC Milan knock Spurs out of Champions League with clean sheet

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of a deep Champions League run ended in disappointing fashion as they were eliminated by AC Milan in the Round of 16. Spurs, tasked with overturning a first-leg deficit, struggled from the outset, allowing Milan to assert control early in the tie.
The home side’s frustration peaked when defender Cristian Romero was sent off late in the match after receiving a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Theo Hernandez. Tottenham’s few attacking efforts, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s powerful shot, Harry Kane’s header, and a late Kane attempt, were expertly dealt with by AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, while Divock Origi rattled the post for the visitors.
Unable to break down the resilient Italian defence, Spurs exited the competition, leaving their season’s focus squarely on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.
