US and Mexico pull out of joint bid to host 2027 Women’s World Cup

The United States and Mexico plan to leverage the experience gained from co-hosting the 2026 Men’s World Cup with Canada to stage a successful Women’s World Cup in 2031.

US Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone explained that organizing a World Cup requires extensive preparation, and shifting their focus to 2031 will give both countries ample time to plan and ensure the tournament achieves maximum global impact.

She added that the knowledge and lessons acquired from hosting the 2026 Men’s World Cup will be instrumental in delivering a well-organized and memorable event for the 2031 Women’s World Cup.
