Black Princesses Kick Off Preparations for U-20 World Cup

Black Princesses head coach, Yussif Basigi, has called up thirty-five (35) players to commence training in Cape Coast as Ghana prepares for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia. The squad is making its seventh consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament.
Ghana has been drawn in Group E and will open its campaign against Austria, followed by matches against New Zealand and Japan. The players reported to camp on Thursday, June 27, 2024, as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament, which runs from August 31 to September 22, 2024.
The Black Princesses aim to build on recent successes and break the cycle of failing to advance past the group stage in previous editions. Under Basigi’s guidance, the team has enjoyed notable achievements, including winning the U-20 WAFU Girls Competition in Kumasi last year and securing gold at the 2023 African Games in Accra.
As the World Cup approaches, the focus for the Black Princesses will be on overcoming their group-stage challenges and making history for Ghanaian women’s football on the global stage.
